Dear visitor:

I would like to invite you to participate in the 2008 GFC in Hangzhou, China. This is our 15th Annual Meeting of GFC. Every year our family, a global network of professionals that exceeds 1000, is growing. As you know, China is the buzz word for growth and modernization. That is one our main reasons for coming to China again. GFC was held in Beijing in 2002. That provided our participants with opportunities to visit the historic China.

At that conference, we met a great number of new members. One of such new members was and is Professor Huifang Cheng, Dean of College of Business at Zhejiang University of Technology. She has become a dear friend and colleague and has participated in our GFC since Beijing. She is a terrific host and organizes other financial and international trade conferences.

Another reason for choosing HangZhou is HangZhou itself. It means Heaven on Earth. Marco polo called it the Vince of Asia. It is a gorgeous city of about 7 million with state-the-art infrastructure and buildings surrounded by beautiful rivers and West Lake, another hallmark itself. HangZhou is the capital city of the State of Zhejiang with a population of about 47 million. Like Shanghai and nearby states, Zhejiang, especially HangZhou, has been growing fast. The State is the host of close to 4000 Multinational Corporations, mostly electronic and chemical. Of course, Silk is a major industry and make sure to purchase silk products while in HangZhou. Historically, HangZhou is the home of banking industry in China. The new magnetic bullet train connects HangZhou to Shanghai International Airport only a train ride of about 35 minutes.

Professor Cheng tells me that over 700 scholars and professional are expected at the 2008 GFC in HangZhou. I hope you join us in HangZhou, enjoy the company of your colleagues and the beautiful City. I am confident that we all would enjoy our visit to HangZhou and would take back with us new ideas and pleasant memories.

With warmest regards,
Manuchehr Shahrokhi, Ph.D
